Mosque archives:
Administrative and Material Cultures
This page collects information on the material and administrative cultures of mosque archives in Germany. Our main focus will be on files, paper stacks, drawings, posters and photographs that are the remains of past administrative orderings and date from before 2000. As a matter of course, the search focuses on files, which are not in use any more.
We want to learn,
- Where - in which places - files are being kept? Why these have been safeguarded?
- In what order have they been stored away? Which order can be identified within single files? Which regularity can be detected between them? Which single 'hands' can be discerned?
- What state the archive is in? What does it look like? What does this tell us about the archive's history track?
- How old is this mosque? Is the history of the mosque and mosque community a topic here? Are earlier imams and founders being remembered? Is there a special history connected to this mosque?
